After a gruelling test series culminating in a historic 2-1 series victory for the away side, Australia will hope for a change in fortune in the ODI format as they take on a formidable India side at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

With the Indians having a relatively good record at the SCG, Kohli and Co. will be banking on their momentum going into the match and will look to start off on the right note against a revamped Australian side. With the World Cup just around the corner, this match presents an opportunity for several fringe players to establish themselves in the squad as well.

Squads to pick from:

Australia:

Aaron Finch(c), Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Ashton Turner, Alex Carey(WK), Jhye Richardson, Billy Stanlake, Jason Behrendorff, Peter Siddle, Nathan Lyon, Adam Zampa

India:

Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Karthik, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (WK), Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, Khaleel Ahmed and Mohammed Shami.

Playing XI Updates:

Australia: Going along with tradition, Australia have named their starting line-up with Peter Siddle playing in his first match for the Australian ODI side since late 2010. Billy Stanlake has been left out with Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff completing the pace attack. Nathan Lyon has been rewarded for his test form with a place in the side as well. Aaron Finch will lead the side and will hope for sizeable contributions from his all-rounders if they are to trouble India.

Confirmed XI: Finch(C), Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Handscomb, Maxwell, Stoinis, Carey(WK), Lyon, Jhye Richardson, Behrendorff and Siddle

India: Not many changes are expected from the team that played against the West Indies in 2018. Jasprit Bumrah has been given a well-deserved rest as Khaleel Ahmed should take the new ball with Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Ambati Rayudu, Kedhar Jadhav and Shikhar Dhawan are back in the mix along with M.S Dhoni as well and would be favourites to win the match.

Possible XI: Rohit, Dhawan, Kohli (C), Rayudu, Dhoni (WK), Jadhav, Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar, Kuldeep, Shami and Khaleel

Fantasy Tips and Suggestions:

Wicket-keeper: With India being heavily dependent on their top order, Alex Carey should be preferred over M.S Dhoni considering the fact he is slated to open the batting for Australia alongside Aaron Finch. With the South Australian performing well in the BBL too, he will be looking to cement his place in his preferred position in the line up with a good performance.

Batsmen: Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have had a stellar 2018 and would be itching to start the year with a dominant performance. Two out of the aforementioned three should make it into most fantasy sides. Aaron Finch is also a safe pick to go for with the Victorian being one of the few positives coming out of Australia's dreadful 2018 campaign. Usman Khawaja is also a viable option go for along with Shaun Marsh, but form could against the southpaw.

All-rounders: Marcus Stoinis and Ravindra Jadeja should be the two preferred selections in your fantasy sides. Marcus Stoinis has been a key player for the Australian side over the last two years with vital contributions with both bat and ball consistently. His ability to play spin well would prove to be pivotal against the likes of Kuldeep Yadav. Kedhar Jadhav could be a safer pick to abide by.

Bowlers: Kuldeep Yadav has been sensational for India over the past year. He has been wrecking opposition middle orders with considerable ease. Bhuvneshwar Kumar could also slot in for either of them with his death bowling prowess worth having a look. Jason Behrendorff and Peter Siddle should complete the side with the former in good wicket-taking form with the new ball in the BBL.

Captain: Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are obvious contenders for the mantle of captain. Their ODI records speak for themselves and would make most fantasy sides as captain or vice-captain. Despite the presence of two of the best ODI batsmen in the world, Aaron Finch can also be a clever pick to go for.

Fantasy Suggestion #1: Alex Carey(WK), Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Aaron Finch, Usman Khawaja, Kedhar Jadhav, Marcus Stoinis, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Jason Behrendorff and Peter Siddle. Captain: Rohit Sharma

Fantasy Suggestion #2: Alex Carey(WK), Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Aaron Finch, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Rohit Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff. Captain: Virat Kohli
