Table-toppers, Paarl Rocks looks to seal a top three spot in MSL 2019 as they host Durban Heat on Wednesday. Although Durban Heat do not have the same bowling might as their opponents, they have done well to overcome a slow start. With 14 in seven games, Durban Heat is firmly in the run for a knockout spot and will bank on their formidable middle order trio of Dane Vilas, David Miller and Ravi Bopara. Both sides are very well balanced on paper which should result in an even and competitive game at the Boland Park. Here are a few tips to help you pick your Dream11 team for PR vs DUR.
Squads to choose from:
Faf du Plessis (C), Henry Davids, James Vince, JP Duminy, Dwaine Pretorius, Isuru Udana, Cameron Delport, Kerwin Mungroo, Ferisco Adams, Kyle Verreynne, Mangaliso Mosehle, Tabraiz Shamsi, Hardus Viljoen, Bjorn Fortuin, Sibonelo Makhanya, and Thando Ntini.
Dane Vilas (C), Andile Phehlukwayo, Alex Hales, David Miller, Ravi Bopara, Keshav Maharaj, Kyle Abbott, Khaya Zondo, Marco Jansen, Daryn Dupavillon, Sarel Erwee, Malusi Siboto, Prenelan Subrayen, Wihan Lubbe, Shaun von Berg, Robbie Frylinck
Playing XI Updates:
Ferisco Adams could come in for Mungroo after a lacklustre performance against Jozi Stars. Apart from the one change, Paarl Rocks should remain unchanged with Sibonelo Makhanya and Kyle Verreynne also doing well in the previous game.
Their bowling unit has been brilliant with Shamsi and Udana picking wickets consistently. Much is expected from Faf du Plessis and Cameron Delport, who haven't scored a fifty yet in the competition.
Possible XI: Davids, Delport, du Plessis(C), Vince, Makhanya, Verreynne (WK), Udana, Viljoen, Adams, Shamsi and Fortuin.
With two wins on the trot for Durban Heat, they shouldn't be making any changes to their combination. Although their openers, Alex Hales and Wesley Marshall, haven't done much of note, they have shown glimpses of what they are capable of. Andile Phehlukwayo is slowly regaining his bowling form while Abbott and Maharaj continue to impress for the Heat.
Possible XI: Hales, Marshall, Lubbe, Vilas (C&WK), Miller, Bopara, Phehlukwayo, Siboto, Abbott, Maharaj and Jansen
Paarl Rocks vs Durban Heat, Match 24
4th December 2019, 9:00 PM IST
Boland Park, Paarl
A competitive pitch awaits the two sides with some help on offer for the spinners. While there isn't any rain on the forecast, 160-165 would be a decent score on this pitch. The dimensions of the ground aren't too big which could go against the bowlers with teams preferring to chase at this venue.
Fantasy Tips and Suggestions:
Wicket-keeper: Dane Vilas should get the nod over Kyle Verreynne with the Lancashire keeper in fine form this season. Vilas has already scored a fifty this year and has been very tidy behind the stumps as well. While Verreynne also showed glimpses of what he is capable of against Jozi Stars, Vilas' experience gives him the nod.
Batsmen: Faf du Plessis and Alex Hales have been critically underwhelmed this year. Although both of them have centurions in the T20I format, they are yet to score a fifty in MSL 2019. Along with them, Henry Davids is also a viable option with the veteran already scoring 153 runs. Cameron Delport and David Miller also have experience under their belt and should be able to score some runs in this game.
Allrounders: Ravi Bopara is a must have in the side owing to his stellar form in 2019. Bopara has already impressed with cameos in the middle overs and he is also capable of rolling his arm over for a couple of overs. Along with the Englishman, Isuru Udana is also a good option with the all-rounder expected to add to his tally of seven wickets. If one were to pick an extra allrounder, Andile Phehlukwayo would fit the bill.
Bowlers: Tabriaz Shamsi is the highest wicket-taker among spinners in MSL 2019. With 10 wickets, he looks good for more wickets against Durban Heat. Along with Shamsi, Fortuin and Abbott are also picked in the side for this game. While Maharaj did pick a few wickets in the previous game, Malusi Siboto is decent pick as well with the Durban Hear pacer bowling predominantly in the death overs.
Captain: Henry Davids has gotten off to a few cameos without converting them in MSL 2019. Nevertheless, he is an experienced player who should be able to score big runs in this crucial game. Apart from Davids, Alex Hales and James Vince are also decent punts for the multiplier option considering their records and form over the course of the year.
Fantasy Suggestion #1: Dane Vilas, Faf du Plessis, Alex Hales, David Miller, Henry Davids, Ravi Bopara, Isuru Udana, Kyle Abbott, Malusi Siboto, Tabriaz Shamsi and Bjorn Fortuin. Captain: Henry Davids, Vice-Captain: Alex Hales
