The transfer window officially closed, but managers can still look into the free transfer market to improve their squads. Italian champions, Juventus are the masters of the free transfer market and built their world-class squad revolving these players.
They managed to sign world-class players like Pirlo, Khedira, and Pogba among others from the free transfer market. They most recently signed Dani Alves on a free transfer and has shown the value of this free market.
There are a number of Champions League winners, Premier League winners, internationally recognised stars and Nicklas Bendtner. With several top players out of contract, let’s look at 10 free agents your club could sign:
#1 Jose Enrique
The former Liverpool full-back was recently released from Anfield after 5 seasons at the club. The Spaniard made 226 appearances for the clubs, and played in several games in the first two seasons at Anfield but was later not preferred.
Enrique was solid at the back and pretty good on the offense. The 30-year old can add a wealth of experience to whichever club he moves to, and his presence in the dressing room will certainly help their morale.
Reports have emerged that says that Hull City could be a possible destination. The Tigers have gone through a tough transfer window, and with not enough squad players, Enrique could prove to be a solid buy.
#2 Emmanuel Adebayor
Adebayor has played for big clubs like Arsenal, Spurs, and Real Madrid, and was at his prolific best at the Emirates, but hasn’t looked himself, since.
He had an excuse for his dip of form - the Toga striker said his mum connived with spirits to cast a black spell on him.
He spent last season at Crystal Palace, and despite Alan Pardew’s effort to get Adebayor back to his best, he didn’t exactly dazzle, scoring one goal in 9 appearances for Palace.
The Togo man has loads of ability, but inconsistency, high wage demands, and more importantly, his attitude can prove to be a stumbling block for clubs to sign him. Latest reports suggest Fulham’s interest in the 32-year old.
#3 Mathieu Flamini
The 32-year old recently ran out of contract at Arsenal in 2016 and has been a free agent, since.
The French midfielder recently found a biotech company, which produces levulinic acid on a commercial scale, becoming the world's leader in the manufacture of that substance. Flamini is one of the richest footballers currently, thanks to the big bucks from this company.
Flamini remains keen on continuing his football career and is available for a new club. He was a good backup player at Arsenal in his second spell with the club when he had to fill up for Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin, following their injuries.
He made 24 appearances last season and chipped in with a two goals.
The Frenchman has been attracting a lot of interest from Serie A clubs - Roma and Torino. Flamini still has a lot to offer, at least as a squad player, and should be a good signing.
#4 Raul Meireles
The former Liverpool and Chelsea man has been a free agent since he was released by Turkish club, Fenerbahce.
At 33, he is reaching the end of his footballing career but looks in shape for a season or two more. He has a lot of experience under his belt, both at the club and national level, and can prove to be a valuable signing.
The Portuguese spent the last 4 seasons at Fenerbahce and was a vital part of the team which was triumphant in 2014 Turkish league. He made 105 appearances for the club, scoring 8 goals in the process.
Meireles provides a solid presence in midfield, and will be a good signing, especially for the English clubs. He spent 3 seasons in the EPL, winning 2011 PFA Fans’ Players of the year, and won Champions League with Chelsea in 2011-12.
#5 Junior Hoilett
The former Blackburn and QPR man is looking to kick-start his career once again, after falling out of favour at Loftus Park. He was recently released by QPR and is currently looking for a new club.
The Canadian has made over 200 appearances in English football and found the net 27 times. The winger still has a lot of football left in him at 26. Hoilett seems like a perfect fit for the Championship, and with a few good seasons, can make a return to Premier League.
Premier League clubs like Sunderland, Bournemouth and Swansea have been linked with the winger, along with a host of Championship clubs.
#6 Martin Caceres
The Uruguayan international had stints at European biggies like Barcelona and Juventus but always found it hard to establish himself as a first-team name. He recently ended his stay at Turin with Juventus, ending a 4-year spell with the Italian giants, winning 4 Scudettos along the way.
Caceres made 89 appearances for the Bianconeris’ and has a solid physical presence at centre-back. He completely fell out of favour following an Achilles injury, which ended his season.
The 29-year old still has gas left in the tank, and should he recover from the injury, Caceres will be a good buy.
#7 Philippe Mexes
Once regarded as the future star of French football after amazing performances for Roma, the Frenchman was released by Milan, after a 5-season spell with the club. The 34-year still has a season or two left in him, and his goal against arch-rivals, Inter Milan was nominated for Puskas Award.
Mexes made 114 appearances at Milan and was a vital part of the team for 4-odd years before falling out of favour last season, where he made only 7 appearances.
Mexes can offer a lot of experience, and his presence at centre-back can prove to be valuable for many clubs.
#8 Stephane Sessegnon
The 32-year old was recently released after 3 seasons at West Brom. Sessegnon signed for the Baggies from Sunderland for a club record fee. He made 92 appearances and scored 8 goals for the club
The Beninese international also spent time at French clubs, like PSG and Le Mans. Sessegnon is very versatile, and can play anywhere along the midfield.
He can be a very good addition to PL clubs, given his vast experience in English football. Sessegnon has scored 26 goals in his EPL career.
#9 Nicklas Bendtner
‘Lord Bendtner’ has a cult following in social media, and if not for his footballing abilities, clubs can benefit a lot from this following! Bendtner’s move to any new club will certainly grab the headlines on social media.
After winning the 2009 Danish Player of the Year, Bendtner infamously stated that he would be the best player in the world in 5-years time. However, it hasn’t gone to plan for the former Arsenal player. He was recently released by Wolfsburg after the 2015-16 season.
The former Arsenal man has 47 goals in his EPL career but has faded away since. At just 28, Bendtner still has a lot to offer.
#10 Victor Anichebe
The Nigerian international was released from West Brom in May, following his goal-less campaign. He struggled for a first team place in his spells at Everton and West Brom, having never played more than 26 games in a season.
Anichebe has the physical presence to suit the physicality of the Premier League and even the Championship. He has scored 35 goals in his English league career, and should be worth a buy, given he’s out of contract.
Wolves and Hull City are rumored to be interested in the 28-year old, and he might just turn out to be a good buy.
