The most ardent Liverpool fans will tell you supporting Liverpool is not like supporting any ordinary club, it is a way of life. The Reds have had plenty of ups and downs in their long history and we as their fans have lived every moment, be it the joy of conquering Europe or suffering a cruel heartbreak at the end of the season.

No matter what happens in my life, the one constant that will remain is my love and passion for Liverpool. There are countless reasons why Liverpool will always be the love of my life.

Here, I list out 10 reasons why I love and will continue to love this great football club.

#10 Playing football the Liverpool way

Liverpool has always played football which has pleased the fans and audiences. The teams in the 1970s and 1980s were so good that many times even the opposition fans applauded the way Liverpool played.

The history and tradition of this wonderful club has been based on offensive, attacking football - but with discipline. Liverpool were about control, dominating games with the ball, working very hard when they did not have the ball and keeping the game as simple as possible.

The glorious Liverpool teams under Shankly, Paisley, Fagan and Dalglish not only won numerous trophies, they won trophies playing football the right way. Most recently, Brendan Rodgers had a glorious season with Liverpool and now with Klopp in charge, we will continue to see energetic and attractive football.

Me and my fellow fans will be hoping that the chant “A team that plays the Liverpool way, wins the Championship in May” will come into fruition again under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.

#9 Comeback Kings

liverpool vs Dortmund
Liverpool completed a remarkable 4-3 comeback against the tournament favourites Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League

Over the years, football fans have been treated to some truly remarkable comebacks from Liverpool and their recent triumph over Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League is no different. The Reds have truly given us some wonderful memories.

Who can forget the match against Olympiakos or the remarkable comeback against AC Milan after being 3-0 down at halftime. Liverpool’s stunning comebacks have given us memories and moments which we will cherish throughout our life.

The never say die spirit of this wonderful club surfaces when it is required the most and Liverpool fans have been treated to many special matches throughout this club’s long and proud history.

Liverpool truly epitomises the saying: ‘The game isn’t over till the final whistle is blown.’

#8 Glorious History

Liverpool is the only team in England to win 5 Champions Leagues

Although we as Liverpool fans are ridiculed for talking about our glorious history, the fact remains that we are one of the most successful clubs in England (the most successful if community shield is not counted). Following Liverpool over the years, fans have always been regularly treated to trophies.

18 League titles and 5 Champions Leagues shows just how successful Liverpool is. Although rival fans get great joy in pointing out that it has been more than 26 years since we won the League, they conveniently forget the fact that we have still won 11 major trophies since 2000.

History is a fact that many rivals tell us to forget, but I as a Liverpool fan am extremely proud of our glorious history.

With a new era beckoning, it seems like only a matter of time before we start creating history again.

#7 Best Fans in the World

Liverpool fans are quite clearly the best fans in the world

Liverpool fans will know that once we start supporting this great club, it is like we belong to one big global family. We as fans stick by our team through thick and thin.

We appreciate our players when they play well and stick by them when they suffer a dip in form. With no offense to any other team, our fans are truly not ‘plastic’ fans. Liverpool is a massive club and it has a huge fanbase not only in Europe but throughout the world in countries like Thailand, Australia, India and China.

I have seen the club during its most glorious times and during its most difficult times, the one thing that remains constant is the fans’ love and unwavering support.

In my opinion the only club which comes close to having as amazing fans as ours is Borussia Dortmund. I am extremely proud to call myself a Liverpool fan through and through.

#6 Amazing forwards over the years

fernando torres and luis suarez
Suarez and Torres are just two of the amazing forwards to have played for Liverpool over the years

Kevin Keegan, Kenny Dalglish, John Toschak, Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Fernando Torres, Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and the list can go on and on. Liverpool have always been blessed with some amazing forwards.

As a fan, having a world class forward in your team's ranks will definitely get you excited. All of the above names were world class superstars in their prime and watching them provided us joy and entertainment week after week, match after match.

We as Liverpool fans have rarely had to suffer watching “boring” football and I as a Liverpool fan have definitely enjoyed watching our star forwards terrorise defences.

#5 Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has converted many Liverpool fans from ‘doubters' to ‘believers’

It’s always very important for a Liverpool manager to understand the emotions of the fans, the stature and history of the club and the unfulfilled expectations yet for a Premier League title. In Klopp, we have the best possible choice.

Two distinct images spring to mind. An ecstatic Klopp punching his fist in the glory of a late equaliser amid a snowy Anfield. The latest one, when a red smoke greeted Anfield as Liverpool led Manchester United 2-0. It sums up the air of romanticism that has come back to the club.Anfield is now composed of more ‘believers’.

“Please give us the time,” he said in his first interview.

It has just been five months and the rebuilding is very much in progress. And while reflecting at the ironies of life, it took around two decades for a Scot to knock the Liverbird off its perch. It might just take lesser time for a German to rescue an English club back to where it belongs.

Although the enigmatic German was only appointed 5 months ago, Liverpool and Klopp look like a match made in heaven.

#4 Bill Shankly and Bob Paisely

Bill Shankly and Bob Paisely Liverpool
Bill Shankly and Bob Paisely are two of the most important people in Liverpool’s history

I must confess that I was not born when these two great men scripted history at our beloved club. However, I have extensively read and watched videos about the legendary duo and the work they put in to make Liverpool a great club really captured my imagination.

Quotes by the great Bill Shankly such as:

“Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.”

”The two best teams on Merseyside are – Liverpool and Liverpool reserves.”

really made me appreciate the importance of football and Liverpool in the world.

The manager who immediately followed after Shankly was Bob Paisley and he led the club to unprecedented success winning numerous trophies and making Liverpool the best club in the world.

Shankly and Paisley changed old practices and provided new ways to run things at Anfield.

I definitely fell in love with Liverpool when I first read about the inspirational Bill Shankly and Bob Paisely.

#3 Magical nights at Anfield

magical anfield nights
The atmosphere at Anfield is unbelievable during big matches

Inter Milan, Saint Etienne, Roma, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Dortmund all these teams have found out just how difficult it is to play against Liverpool at Anfield. The mythical stadium of Liverpool football club has experienced some truly magical nights.

The edge of the seat action, frenzied attacking by Liverpool, the Kop roaring on its heroes, all these factors make Liverpool's nights at Anfield truly spectacular.

The spirit of these nights was most recently captured in the wins against Manchester United and Dortmund in the Europa League. Gerrard's spectacular strike against Olympiakos is still fresh in my mind and we as Liverpool fans always get goosebumps when we remember the magical nights at Anfield.

#2 Steven Gerrard

steven gerrard liverpool
Steven gerrard is probably the greatest Liverpool player ever

Steven Gerrard is the one truly world class player who stuck with Liverpool throughout their good and bad times. A one-club man, Gerrard is a creative midfielder with limitless energy, who is renowned for scoring crucial goals at crucial times. A real leader, Gerrard is a tireless runner and has superb vision. A true hero at Anfield, Gerrard truly deserves the word ‘legend’.

Renowned for his pace, work-rate and stamina in his prime, his main attributes today are his vision, ball striking, and his accurate, varied passing range, which allows him to set the tempo of his team's play and create attacking chances. He also possesses good technical and aerial ability, as well as notable defensive attributes.

Steven Gerrard is also widely regarded for his leadership abilities and his capability to inspire his team-mates during the toughest of situations.

I must admit that I have never watched King Kenny play extensively but for me Gerrard will alwalys be “the best there was, the best there is, the best there ever will be”

Thank you Gerrard for Istanbul,Olympiakos, FA Cup final and the countless memories you have given to every Liverpool fan.

#1 You’ll Never Walk Alone

YNWA
Liverpool's anthem is the best in the world

Liverpool fans singing You’ll Never Walk Alone is one of the best sights in football. The powerful anthem is capable of providing hope, support, joy and an amazing sense of togetherness for fans and players alike.

Listening to a powerful rendition of the wonderful song always makes Liverpool supporters feel special. Many players and managers alike have spoken about how YNWA has given them hope and made them determined to fight till the very end.

YNWA unites everyone associated with Liverpool. YNWA symbolises what the club stands for. YNWA is what makes Liverpool what it is.

I can go on and on about the reasons why I love this amazing club.

There are some good times and bad times while supporting Liverpool FC but all I can say is I am proud and lucky to be a fan of this glorious club.

Once ypu are a Liverpool fan, You’ll Never Walk Alone for the rest of your life.
