Gone are the days when Inter Milan was one of the teams that were touted to challenge for the Champions League. Nowadays the Blue and Black striped team from Milan find themselves out of the Premier European competition and into the Europa League.

The lack of quality in the midfield has been quite evident for the Nerazzurri for the past couple of years. The fact that no player from the midfield has provided more than 2 assists in this entire season shows how poor the Inter Milan midfield lacks quality. The Italians had unsuccessfully tried to bring the 2018 Balon d'Or winner Luka Modric in the summer upon understanding this fact.

The onus has been upon the club captain and 25-year old Mauro Icardi to produce the goals when his team was down and out for the count. The Argentine has been responsible for producing almost 75% of the goal scored by Inter Milan this season with little help from his teammates on the goal scoring front.

Mesut Ozil though can provide an immediate difference to the Mauro Icadi dependent team. The German has the tools to unlock any defence with his vision, uncanny eye for a pass and his ability to set up his teammates.

Provided with proper defensive back up the German can produce those moments of genius reducing the workload of the Argentine and providing the balls at his platter just like the time Ozil enjoyed with Cristiano Ronaldo in Real Madrid.

The 2014 World Cup winner has also added goal scoring to his already impressive bag of talents with 41 goals, almost twice the amount of goals in his previous clubs, during his Arsenal career.

The German midfielder can also become the first player to top the assist charts in the German, English, Spanish and the Italian league if he chooses to switch country and join the Nerazzurri.
