England v Slovakia - FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifier
Ryan Bertrand

England and Southampton fullback, Ryan Bertrand has been a vital player for his club and country. Having played a large part in the qualification process, the Englishman has impressed and played consistently although competition for places could be the reason for exclusion.

With Danny Rose, Ashley Young and Fabian Delph selected ahead of Bertrand, these players have proven themselves to be in better form and their versatility could've helped nudge their choice. Bertrand has also made 19 prior appearances for the country.

However, with his creativity, vision and positioning, Bertrand should have been included in the 23-man squad for the tournament given his consistency for the national team. Gareth Southgate has made another hard decision to leave out the player but the inclusion of Gary Cahill based on form this season is a shocker.

The Southampton man will be absolutely gutted with the decision and will find it hard to forgive the manager's decision.
