This FIFA World Cup was the 15th FIFA World Cup edition, which was hosted by the United States of America. The final was played between Brazil and Italy at the Rose Bowl Stadium, California.
The game ended in a draw 0-0 after the extra time and then Brazil won their 4th World Cup title by defeating Itlay 3-2 in a penalty shootout.
It was the first ever World Cup final to be decided on penalties and it was also the 11th penalty shootout in FIFA World Cup history.
