The final man on our short-list is none other than the legendary Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger. Though this would go down as probably the most left-field appointment ever, Perez’s fantasy with getting big names on board might just bring the Frenchman into the reckoning.

Arsene enjoyed a celebrated career at Arsenal. While the first half of his tenure was trophy-laden, including the Invincibles, the second half was more about rebuilding the club. However, over the years, Arsene’s inability to compete for the top prizes was quite alarming.

Despite all of Wenger’s weakness being splashed across the back pages, one wonders if Wenger might just be the right tonic for an ailing Real Madrid side. In the dressing room, Arsene would not belt out instructions, rather allowing the players to express themselves on the pitch.

In the latter part of his reign at Arsenal, Wenger lacked real leaders which led to his above philosophy falling short. However, at the Bernabeu, the likes of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos would not let that problem resurface.

Additionally, his penchant for developing young guns into absolute beasts would hold him in good stead. Apart from this, his inclination to play attacking and attractive football would be tempting for Perez.

However, the only downside is the Frenchman’s age. At 69, he might not offer many years going forward but the Real Madrid hierarchy have rarely made decisions keeping the long-term future in mind.

The sight of Wenger managing Real Madrid, many years after rejecting them, is a fairy tale we don’t deserve. The eternal purist joining hands with arguably the biggest club in the world would be one for the ages.

Though there are a lot of obstacles before Arsene’s appointment, the ultimate football optimist would want the great man to have another chance to redeem himself. All over to you now, Mr Perez.
