#1 Hat-trick of league titles - twice

The 2008/09 saw United equal Liverpool's record of 18 English titles.

Unsurprisingly, Manchester United have the most number of consecutive Premier League titles since the inception of the league. They have accomplished this feat - a hat-trick of PL titles - not once, but twice.

No one can forget the exceptional United team of the late 90's, when the Class of '92 won the club a treble and ripped defences apart at their will. That team went on to lift three consecutive titles in 1998-99, 1999-2000 and 2000-2001.

A similar star studded team was assembled by Sir Alex six years later, which consisted of players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and several more exciting names.

This team, led by Ronaldo's unstoppable goal-scoring runs went on to lift the Premier League trophy for three years on the trot - 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09.

In today's game where the shift in power is highly unpredictable, it would be difficult to put any money on a team to win the Premier League three years running.

Some would argue that the current Manchester City line-up, with their bunch of young talents who are yet to reach their full potential, are capable of breaking this record. But then again, the same was said of several teams in the past and it will take enormous effort to break this record. Even then, doing it twice will be close to a miracle.
