3 players likely to leave Barcelona next season

Becoming a Barcelona player is not easy for anyone. Everybody knows that the Catalan club would not hesitate to sell their players, even if they had joined the club just months ago. However, the new stars would also be tasked to compete with Barcelona greats such as Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique, and Lionel Messi.

Barcelona are now loaning some of their fringe players to other clubs with the hope that they would regain some confidence. Unfortunately, most of these players could not even dream of going back to Camp Nou because of the fierce competition. Not just the loanee, there are also current players who seem to have no future at the club.

Here we will take a look at the 3 most likely departure for Barcelona players.

#1 Denis Suarez

Denis Suarez is yet to gain a convincing foothold at his new club since joining Arsenal in January. He has played no more than 66 minutes and got zero starts since penning his loan deal. Fortunately, the talented Spaniard has gradually shown signs of improvement at the Emirates, and this means that he could leave Camp Nou for good.

The midfielder has extended his contract at Barcelona for 12 months. This short contract extension, however, is only meant to protect his value if Arsenal are not willing to purchase him. Even if Barcelona take him back, it seems that he would not be able to compete with Malcom, Lionel Messi, and Ousmane Dembele.

#2 Andre Gomes

Things were not going well for Andre Gomes in Barcelona. He was even afraid to come out from his house because of the heavy criticism and mockery from the Barcelona faithful.

However, Everton offered him an escape route and his fate has changed since arriving at Goodison Park. Despite his recent dip in performance, the Portuguese's season at the Premier League could be considered highly successful.

The Catalan club is now having an excessive amount of midfielders because of the arrival of Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal, making Gomes’s return impossible. It would be a win-win solution for both Barcelona and the Toffees if they decide to make Gomes’s move permanent.

#3 Thomas Vermaelen

Thomas Vermaelen is already having enough misery at Barcelona. He has constantly dealt with critics following a series of below-par performances. Apart from his lacklustre displays, the Belgian cannot improve his fitness because he still has a bad injury record.

The 33-year-old also had been loaned to AS Roma for a season by Barcelona without finding any success. Now he is lucky enough to get some game time because of the Catalan team's defensive crisis. If the club manages to find defensive reinforcements in the summer transfer window, Vermaelen would be the first to be dumped by them.
