#2 Andre Gomes

The Portuguese midfielder was one of the hottest properties in world football when he signed for the Catalan giants, but a loss of form coupled with the pressure of performing on the biggest stage means he hasn't quite had the career he would like.

Only 801 minutes of action this past season meant that the versatile midfielder was overlooked for a spot in Portugal's World Cup squad.

Following a wave of criticism for his performances, Gomes admitted he had been really struggling to perform in an interview with Spanish publication Panenka.

“Maybe it's not the correct word but it turned into a bit of a hell, because I started to feel more pressure. With pressure I feel fine, but with pressure on myself, I don't. The feeling that I have during games is bad.” - Gomes in the interview.

Amid his struggles, Gomes had become the subject of terrace taunts, with jeers from the stands leading to him becoming a recluse.

“On more than one occasion, I didn't want to leave my house. Because people look at you, having the fear of going on the street out of shame."

The 24-year-old is unquestionably talented though, and will look for a move away this summer in order to revitalize his stuttering career.

With Manchester United and AC Milan rumored to be interested, Tottenham are the latest club to join the list of potential suitors as they look to replace Moussa Dembele.

Although Gomes found some form right at the fag end of last season, a new challenge may be necessary for him to rediscover his mojo, and elevate himself to his previous level of skill and consistency.
