The young Serbian has become a new phenomenon for Bundesliga this season despite he was relatively unknown before moving to Germany. He failed to cement a place at Benfica, and Frankfurt's former manager Niko Kovac also mostly used him as a substitute in the previous campaign.
However, his enormous talent has been evident since he joined the German side last year. He scored incredible 8 league goals despite started just 9 times under Kovac throughout the 2017/18 season. His chance finally came when Adi Hutter replaced the 47-year-old manager.
He has now transformed into an all-around striker who is capable of scoring as well as set up his teammate. His excellent finishing from both ground and air has led him to a third-place finish at the Bundesliga top goalscorer chart. Real Madrid have reportedly close to secure his service, but a deal has yet to materialize so far.
Madrid's interest for the star has gradually cooled, and Barcelona now have an open chance to secure his signature. Jovic's ability to serve as a target man will open more space for other Barcelona attackers. He is also a prominent goalscorer at the European stage. Hence, he can serve as a huge relief for Lionel Messi at the Champions League.
