Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United dream is slowly starting to take shape. With wholesome servings of fast and attacking football, Solskjaer has already captured the hearts of United fans again.

Under his able leadership, a rejuvenated United are playing some of the best football since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement. This is no coincidence because Solskjaer's football brain is steeped in the attacking nous of the Legendary Scot.

Under Sir Alex's management, Manchester United became a brand of football and defined a playing style. It is this ideology that Solskjaer has successfully reinstated at Old Trafford so far, it is this ideology that the players have embraced again.

As is normal with a modification of tactics, a list of players have emerged who have struggled to cope up with the changes usher in by the Norwegian. While not all of their struggles have been technical, it is safe to say that some players have done little to impress their new manager and are sliding down the pecking order with every passing game.

Today, we take a look at the three current players at Manchester United, who might no longer be in Solskjaer's plans.

#3 Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez's arrival at Old Trafford promised a lot of things but in the end, Sanchez has failed to fulfill his potential at Old Trafford. He has struggled under Jose Mourinho and the arrival of Solskjaer hasn't changed it much.

Under Solskjaer, the Chilean has featured just twice, one of which was from the bench. Even though he did pick up an assist on each game, Sanchez has not been too impressive. In his first start against Reading in the FA Cup, the Chilean was largely ineffective and also picked up an injury.

Sanchez has already missed 11 games this season due to injury and his astronomical salary is a liability for United right now. Unless the Chilean immediately improves himself, he could find himself further away from the first team football with each passing game. Also, the impressive performances of Rashford and Martial is keeping him away from the team.

#2 Fred

The Brazilian was identified as the final jigsaw of Mourinho's midfield puzzle, however, even under the Portuguese, Fred had done very little to justify his place in the team. He does have qualities, but with half of the season already gone, he has failed to impress.

He was supposed to be an upgrade to Ander Herrera, but in truth, the Spaniard still looks miles better than the Brazilian in every aspect. Fred was on the bench in Solskjaer's first game, against Cardiff, where he came on for the last 11 minutes.

He was selected to start the following game as he replaced Herrera. However, Fred had little impact on the game and looked out of place. Solskjaer replaced him with Ander Herrera, eight minutes into the second half. He started again in the FA Cup tie against Reading but did nothing to impress yet again. With a top-four finish on the line, Fred may not get many opportunities this season.

#1 Marouane Fellaini

The one glaring difference between Mourinho and Solskjaer's team has been the use of Marouane Fellaini. The Belgian was an ever-present member of the Portuguese's United team. He was used in various positions in the team by Mourinho and only as a target man that Fellaini looked the most effective.

However, Fellaini's skill sets may not suit Solsklaer's style of football at Manchester United. In the speedy, flexible football embraced by Solskjaer, the static Belgian looks out of place. His lack of pace in the middle is a liability during counter attacks and as a result, the Belgian has hardly featured under the Norwegian, failing to make it to the starting eleven in the first 6 games.

He played just three minutes in the opening game against Cardiff, coming off the bench. He also came off the bench against Reading in the FA Cup, playing the last 28 minutes. In both instances, he has done nothing to impress his new manager and Fellaini looks the odd man out at United right now.
