Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has transformed Manchester United from a desperate team to become one of the strongest top 4 contenders in such a short time. Following Jose Mourinho's sacking, Solskjaer is yet to taste defeat with only one draw in the Premier League.

Solskjaer has not made too many changes from Mourinho's favorite line-up. However, some of United's players who seemed to perform below par under the Portuguese have now made a massive turnaround under the Norwegian. Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, and even Phil Jones have now become a vital part for United's resurgence.

Nevertheless, some of United players still could not live to their expectations, contributing little to nothing for the team, or even rarely plays a match. Now we will take a look at 3 underperforming players who the United's board should consider selling in the upcoming summer transfer window.

#1 Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez was one of top Premier League wingers when he was playing at Arsenal. Unfortunately, now not many could argue that Sanchez is the biggest disappointment for United. Slammed by critics under Jose Mourinho, Sanchez has still not lived up to his expectations after Solskjaer took charge.

This season, Sanchez has bagged just 1 goal for United in the Premier League, not so different from last season where he bagged 2 goals for the Red Devils in the same competition. Mostly used as a sub, he is now just deadwood for the emerging United.

Many reports have said that Sanchez is the highest-paid players at the club. With that colossal wage, and having been given enough opportunities to prove himself, now is the right time for United to cut their underperforming Chilean from the team.

#2 Fred

A season ago, Fred looked destined to join Manchester City, especially when many praised him for his performance against Pep Guardiola's squad in Champions League group stage. However, after some twists and turns, he finally ends up joining United for £50 million.

Fred's high transfer fee to United seems reasonable, as many consider him as Fernandinho's heir. Sadly, now the comparison between the two players even seem to be laughable. Fernandinho is still one of the untouchable, key players for Guardiola, while Fred is nowhere to be seen in the past couple of weeks for United.

A series of below-par performances and minimal appearances now suggest that Fred has a very unconvincing future under the new manager. It will be necessary for the Red Devils to part ways with the Brazilian midfielder, especially when Solskjaer is appointed as their permanent manager.

#3 Andreas Pereira

The 23-year-old midfielder has had many ups and downs in his career so far. After performing very convincingly in his loan-spell in Granada, Andreas Pereira had a mixed season with Valencia. He then returned to United only to be regularly dumped out from the first XI following a strong preseason.

Pereira might be a talented player, however, in this season, the Brazilian has seen less than 350 minutes of game time combined in Champions League and the league, with no assist or goal, and booked 2 times.

After his disastrous performance against Burnley, Pereira has not got opportunities from Solskjaer. Now it seems that the young Brazilian was not good enough for United. Considering his age, United might get a decent amount of cash to prepare for next season if they decide to sell the midfielder.
