Only a few seasons ago, Marco Asensio was one of the brightest sparks and most highly-rated youngsters in the world, having starred with some spectacular goals as Real Madrid won consecutive Champions League titles as well as the 2017 Spanish Super Cup.
The Spanish international was expected to be one of the players to benefit the most from Cristiano Ronaldo's departure, having struggled for playing time while the Portuguese was at the club.
