Amidst lots of underperformance by his teammates around him, Vinicius Jr shone brightly during the 2018/2019 season.
The Brazilian had arrived as a highly-rated youngster from Flamengo in the Brazilian league, having signed a pre-contract with Real Madrid for the sum of €46m just 10 days after making his professional debut for the Brazilian Serie A side.
The 18-year-old showed great promise, winning the approval of the notoriously demanding Bernabeu crowd with his exhilarating runs down the left flank of the Real Madrid attack.
He also displayed a good understanding with Karim Benzema and even though he showed some lack of composure with his final touches, finishing and decision making in the opposition box, on the evidence of his promise, it was expected that he would only get better.
Eden Hazard's arrival has, however, put Vinicius' development in jeopardy as both players occupy the same position on the field and this would severely hamper his playing opportunities next season.
