#3 Too much rotation from Lopetegui
It seems Lopetegui loves to change things around often and is not a coach who will field an unchanged team in two successive matches. Against CSKA, it was certain that Alvaro Odriozola will start as a left-back in the absence of Marcelo. But Lopetegui changed his mind overnight and handed Sergio Reguilon his Champions League debut.
Moreover, the Spanish coach decided to bench Luka Modric, even at a time when he didn’t have Bale, Isco and Ramos. Toni Kroos and Modric have a brilliant understanding in the midfield, but without Modric, Kroos couldn't boss the midfield.
Lopetegui did bring in Modric and Mariano in the second half, but it was all too late to make any difference as CSKA were in cruise control.
