With Manchester United midfield currently lacking creativity, Gundogan could bring exactly what they need. According to Dailystar, Ilkay Gundogan will be available for a fee of £25m.

And according to a news website, Moyes may get sacked if he fails to meet the board’s requirement. So, We will see why signing Ilkay Gundogan is the first step Moyes should take in the process to keeping his dream job safe,

The United midfield isn’t currently only lacking talent, but also lacking depth as well. Marouane Fellaini, Tom Cleverley and Anderson are United’s only natural centre midfielders, while only Fellaini is good enough for a starting berth at a top Premier League club. Gundogan would bring the quality and also a new option for David Moyes in the middle. Of course Gundogan alone wouldn’t solve the problem completely, but it will go a long way to making United title challengers once again.

2. To attract more players

After a shambolic summer transfer window in which United were turned down by 8 midfield targets, they will be looking to make up for it in January, and if by some miracle they can sign Gundogan, others may follow. With Ander Herrera known to be their big January target, he may start to be persuaded if they can sign a midfielder who he would love to play with, as none of the current midfield names United have at their disposal carry the same weight as the Germany international’s. With United also in need of a new defender or two, he may also help out with them, as Ferdinand and Vidic have been showing their age, while Evra has had another unproductive season so far. If they can sign Gundogan, within reason, they can sign anyone they want.

3. For a mark of intent and confidence boost

Manchester City’s squad, Tottenham’s £100m splurge, Chelsea’s Oscar and Hazard and Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil have all been signs of intent from the rest of the Premier League’s big boys, but it’s been a while since we have seen United do such a thing. Although Robin van Persie is an arguable point, a £24m, 29 year-old striker isn’t quite as far as the rest of them have gone, and that in a way is worrying for United fans. It is not without effort, as they were linked to many big names over the summer, but their attempts and failure make United even more of a laughing stock in the Premier League, but if all goes well, Gundogan could change that.

Of course it would require more that just one midfielder, but it would certainly be a start. £25m is bit higher, and it is questionable if a club with slowly rising debt could pay such a fee without offloading some players, but if they had to do that, it wouldn’t exactly be a mark of intent anymore, as it would show that United are now a club that must sell to buy, something that hasn’t really happened before.

With things getting bad to worse for the David Moyes, this signing is necessary to win the fans’ confidence. And also this move could be a real confidence boost for the Red Devils. Will he do what Mesut Ozil has done to Arsenal? We have to wait and see.
