Over the years Manchester United have had many exceptional talents but some of them left Old Trafford for other clubs. Here is a list of former United players who are making headlines with other teams.

Paul Pogba

The young Frenchman will always be the one that got away for Manchester United. He arrived from Le Havre in 2009 and was described as a future French captain. The 20-year-old was an integral part of Manchester United’s youth team with goals against Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion.

The midfielder ultimately became frustrated with the lack of first team opportunities and expressed his feelings to Sir Alex Ferguson who promised him that his time would come in the near future. In the end, Pogba ran out of patience and signed for Juventus in 2012 on a free transfer.

Pogba has since become a crucial player for the Old Lady and recently scored a brace against Udinese. The youngster is destined for great things which will sadly not benefit Manchester United.

Ravel Morrison

This talented midfielder was once tipped as ‘the next Paul Scholes‘ during his time at Manchester United. Wonder goals were a routine for the 20-year-old Morrison until he fell into bad company. Morrison was another player who played a big part in winning the 2011 Youth Cup.

In spite of his success, Morrison constantly found himself on the wrong side of the law and was even booked for witness intimidation. Finally former manager Sir Alex Ferguson decided that Morrison will have to leave if he wants to fulfill his potential as a footballer.

Sir Alex said of Morrison : “A brilliant footballer. Brilliant ability, top class ability. Needs to get away from Manchester and start a new life”. Morrison has done just that with superb goals for the Hammers against Everton and Tottenham.

The England international has a great future ahead of him and has only himself to blame if anything goes wrong.

Giuseppe Rossi

The American born forward began his United career with a remarkable long range goal against Sunderland and was touted to be a first choice striker in the long term. In spite of that, Rossi struggled with the pressure of the Premier League and had an unsuccessful spell with Newcastle United before joining boyhood club Parama on loan.

Rossi, 26, scored 9 goals for Parama and became a big part of his childhood team during his loan spell. After failing to break into the first team at United the Italian was sold to Villareal where he scored 54 goals in five seasons. The player was then shipped to Florentina where he has scored 9 goals in 8 starts so far and earned himself a place in the national team.

Manchester United will regret not getting the best out of this prolific forward.

Gerard Pique

The young Spaniard arrived at Old Trafford as a 17-year-old from Barcelona on a free transfer. Pique made very few appearances for the Manchester United first team and was mostly used in the Reserves.

Following a successful spell in his homeland at Real Zaragoza, Pique returned to Barcelona in 2007 where he became a part of the squad that won the Champions League in 2008. In the same year as the Champions League triumph, Pique re-signed for Barcelona for a fee of £5 million and has since become a important part of the squad.

The 26-year-old played a huge part for his country in their 2010 World Cup and 2012 Euro victories and has been touted as one of the best center back in the world. Manchester United could have certainly benefited from his services had he stayed on at Old Trafford.
