4 players who need to be replaced by Tottenham Hotspur

Time for a revamp

Tottenham are the one team in England who are showing the world what is wrong with football right now. They have managed to fight for the top 4 and put pressure on the league winners for the last 2-3 seasons without spending so much in the transfer market.

Now with the revamp of White Hart Lane almost over, it's time to do something similar with the squad. They have a few players who are not able to fight for a place in the starting XI and that is not what you want in a side that wants to win silverware.

Meanwhile, some players are not willing to fight for their place anymore. Here are 4 players who need to be replaced this summer:

#4 Fernando Llorente

Burnley v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League
One season too much

Fernando Llorente was signed by Tottenham last summer, but it's already time for him to leave. The £12.1 million signing from Swansea has not done enough to challenge Harry Kane and push him to the next level.

The Spaniard has done well whenever he's been given a chance for Pochettino, but that's enough for a club that is hungry for silverware. Spurs need a 2nd striker who can not only step up and score goals but also put pressure on their #1 choice.

#3 Erik Lamela

Tottenham Hotspur FC v AS Monaco FC - UEFA Europa League
Goodbye!

Erik Lamela has managed to get just 8 starts this season. He's made a total of 27 apps for the club but has failed to show his worth.

He's been so bad this season, that the number of times he's been booked is more than the number of goals he's scored this season. He's been booked (4) twice as much as the assists he has – 2!

He is definitely not the kind of player you want in your squad when you are challenging for silverware. He's going to be of no effect and the player starting ahead of him is going to have a comfortable time in the starting XI as he knows that the manager is not going to take him off for a player like Lamela.

#2 Danny Rose

Tottenham Hotspur v Swansea City - Premier League
Head's gone

Every since Danny Rose went on that epic rant at the start of the season, he's not been the player he once used to be. He had his heart set on a move away from Tottenham but they did not let him leave.

He kept saying that he wants to win trophies and that's the main reason for him to demand a move away. Spurs should not let such a player ruin the harmony in the team and lower the confidence levels of the players.

He's made 14 apps this season and most of them have been in the cup competitions. Den Davies has been sensational at that position and Spurs will have to just look for someone who can play second fiddle to the Welshman.

#1 Toby Alderweireld

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United - Premier League
One of the best

Alderweireld is undoubtedly one of the best defenders in the Premier League. On his day, he can keep any striker at bay and that's exactly why so many clubs are keeping tabs on him.

The Belgian has refused to sign a new contract and despite having a year left on his current contract, Tottenham are considering selling him this summer. They have a one-year extension on the deal that they can activate next summer but that comes with a £25 million release clause – an amount that any club would happily pay for him.

Thus, a replacement for him is very much needed and Spurs need to act fast. They cannot wait for the World Cup to end as their primary target might be snatched from their hands by a bigger club.
