Nabil Fekir to Liverpool was almost a done deal

Liverpool were tipped to complete the signing of Nabil Fekir from Lyon since the start of the 2018 summer transfer window.

Fekir and Lacazette had set Ligue 1 alight before the latter moved to Arsenal. Fekir was one of the hottest prospects in Europe that were there in the transfer market and was not going to be a cheap buy.

Lyon set his price at €60 million. That was €10 million more than what Liverpool were prepared to pay due to his history of knee injuries. It was reported that he was interested in the move.

But eventually, Liverpool signed Xherdan Shaqiri (maybe not as an alternative) from Stoke City as the Fekir transfer never materialize. The collapsed move surely deprived Premier League of some serious talent.
