#3 Matthijs De Ligt
Juventus centre-back Matthijs De Ligt is another big-name superstar who could move to the Premier League in 2022. The defender has apparently reached the end of the road at the Allianz Stadium. He is expected to leave the Old Lady at the end of the season.
His agent Mino Raiola recently hinted that the former Ajax star is ready to join a new club in the summer. Raiola mentioned that the Premier League is among his potential destinations.
"He is ready for a new step. He thinks that, too," Raiola said in an interview with NRC.
In a different interview with NOS, the superagent provided more insight into his client's next destination, saying:
"We can all think of the clubs that Matthijs could go to. That can be the Premier League, but also Barcelona, Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain."
#2 Philippe Coutinho
Barcelona have become desperate to move Philippe Coutinho next year, as he's become more of a liability than an asset to the club. The Brazilian is currently one of the top earners in the squad, but he isn't giving much to the team.
Having made just five starts across competitions this season, it is obvious the playmaker is not in manager Xavi's plans. According to reports Coutinho favours a return to the Premier League next year. While a move to Liverpool looks unlikely, the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City are also reportedly in the fray for him.
#1 Erling Haaland
It is no more news that a few Premier League giants have shown interest in signing Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. The Norwegian is expected to depart Signal Iduna Park in 2022, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he ends up in the English top flight.
As things stand, the major concern over the young player's potential transfer is his massive market value, which stands at a staggering €150 million. However, Haaland could be available at a much lower price next summer, when his release clause would drop to €74 million.
The Borussia Dortmund forward has had a brilliant campaign thus far. So far, he has bagged 19 goals and five assists for BVB in 16 appearances across competitions. It remains to be seen where he'll ply his trade next season.
