Italy are one of three teams to have won the FIFA World Cup at least four times. The Azzurri's fourth and latest triumph in the competition came in 2006, when they beat France on penalties in the final.
The four-time winners have missed only three previous editions of the World Cup, the last time being 2018. However, the Euro 2020 winners will miss a fourth next year if they stumble in the playoffs after failing to win their qualifying group.
Nevertheless, the Azzurri have an impressive record at the World Cup. They are one of only four teams to play over 80 games in the competition, and win at least 40 of them. However, Italy have won just one game at the World Cup since their 2006 triumph. They failed to win any in 2010, and won only one four years later in 2014.

Germany are one of the most successful teams in FIFA World Cup history. The four-time winners have featured in all but two of the competition's 21 previous editions.
