5 footballers expecting children in 2018

Manchester City v Stoke City - Premier League
Crouch couple will be soon outnumbered by their children

Be it Barcelona’s Lionel Messi or Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic, a lot of stars tied the knot in 2017. We have already done a list for that. However, this is about the next phase of things: making a family.

While marriage is considered to be a sacred bond that holds two people together, the truth is that children are the ones that keep two couples together. After all, children are the marks of a love—a symbol of sorts.

Next year, in 2018, some footballers are expected to become fathers—and here are 5 of them…

#4 Peter Crouch

Apart from being giraffe-like tall, Peter Crouch also has a great sense of humour and an even better wife in Abbey Clancy, who is a model and a great partner for the former Tottenham Hotspur star. The couple already has two kids together and are now up for a third in January next year.

And according to Abbey, she is 100% done with kids as he is finding it really difficult to contain her 2-year-old daughter’s mischief. Meanwhile, according to her, Peter Crouch still doesn’t quite believe that he is up for a third child.

She says that Crouch isn’t entirely fond of newborns, but loves his two daughters. Anyhow, we at Sportskeeda can only hope that their third child will make them fall in love with parenting once again.

#4 Ryan Mason

Hull City v Crystal Palace - Premier League
Ryan Mason made a quick recovery from horror head clash

In October this year, Ryan Mason had a shocking clash of heads with Chelsea captain Gary Cahill. The impact of the incident was such that 14 metal plates and 42 staples had to be dug in his head by the neurosurgeons, who claimed that they had never seen any injury like this in the sport.

Right now, Mason is fit to play again after taking a long road towards it. While being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, Mason claims that he had an out of body experience where he saw his partner “running on a hill with a dog and a little boy and girl.”

And now, with his partner Rachel being 6 months pregnant, he believes that that vision was perhaps a peek into the future and is convinced that his firstborn will be a daughter because the little girl he saw in his vision seemed older than the boy.

#3 Bastian Schweinsteiger

The pair will have their first kid next year

If a list of the greatest midfielders is compiled, then Bastian Schweinsteiger’s name would definitely be in it. The Bayern Munich legend began his career as an average winger but was soon shifted to the middle—where he became one of the most prominent exponents of the game.

And his partner, former tennis star, Ana Ivanovic, is an icon herself, winning the French Open in 2008. The duo is expecting their first child next year and are overjoyed about it.

She wrote on her Instagram: "A little extension to our family.

"Couldn’t be more happy!"

Schweinsteiger, who now plies his trade in Major Soccer League in the United States of America, later posted on his Twitter page: "We are expecting a new family member and are so grateful!"

The child of a tennis and football icon? No pressure, buddy!

#2 Wayne Rooney

Their third child is expected to take birth next year

Some months ago, Wayne Rooney was caught drunk-driving Laura Simpson’s car at 2 am in the morning. Questions were raised about what he was doing with another woman’s car at such an hour while also being drunk in the process.

The incident caused a stir in the media with many claiming that Coleen Rooney was absolutely furious with the former Manchester United star and was considering divorcing the Everton player.

However, all those rumours now seem like an attempt from the media to earn the dough as the couple are expecting their third child next year. At the time of the incident in October, Coleen was four months pregnant, which makes us believe that the Rooney family will grow somewhere around March in 2018.

Congratulations to everyone on this list—here is hoping that the newborn will bring happiness and joy to the household!

#1 Lionel Messi

Best friends and partners

Well, duh! He only just got married a few months ago, so what did you expect? Everyone loves a special wedding night and this one will be a little different from the previous two occasions since this is the first time Messi will be a father a newborn while being a husband.

The love story of Lionel Messi and Antonella Roccuzzo is quite unique in the sense that the duo have knock each other for over two decades and share an unparalleled camaraderie. They are like best friends who got married—and that is when a relationship truly blossoms.

They have Thiago and Milan and now they are going to have a third son—as revealed by Antonella on her instagram account. I guess by the time Messi reaches 40, he will have 11 sons to form a team itself!

Congratulations to everyone on this list—here is hoping that the newborn will bring happiness and joy to the household!
