With Germany captain Manuel Neuer struggling with injury and short on game time, it is fairly likely that Barcelona star Ter Stegen will play a key role at the World Cup in Russia. Ter Stegen has been in good form, having kept 18 clean sheets this campaign in just 29 La Liga games.

Renowned for his “sweeper-keeper” ability, Ter Stegen is blessed with good reflexes and excellent shot-stopping ability which have made him a key player for the La Liga leaders. The 2012 Bundesliga goalie of the year has been the clear first choice for Germany owing to an injury to regular Neuer. He has also made a strong case for continuing as the number one.

The 25-year-old German who is well on course to winning his third La Liga, will need to be at his best if Joachim Low's men are to launch a successful defense of their 2014 triumph.
