For the past several years, tricky winger James Forrest has often starred as Celtic have romped to trophy after trophy in Scotland. He’s clearly been a standout in the SPL, but many have questioned whether the flying forward could be a success in the English Premier League due to, with all respect, Scottish football not quite being as strong as the EPL.

Right now, The Scottish Sun has been reporting that Forrest could indeed be heading to England as he’s emerged as a target for Liverpool. Now 27 and with 26 Scotland caps to his name, now is as good as time as any for Forrest to try his hand outside of Scotland, and the fast, frenetic, high pressing style of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could well be a good fit for the Celtic youth product.

Liverpool already have a deadly forward line, with the trio of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane usually starting in attack for the Anfield outfit. Away from Xherdan Shaqiri, Liverpool are lacking any real alternatives to this triumvirate, though. Divock Origi seems more likely to leave Liverpool than be a genuine squad player right now, whereas Daniel Sturridge is just simply “there”.

If the reported asking price of £8 million is indeed true, signing up James Forrest could be a shrewd bit of business for Liverpool.
