New French signing Anthony Martial couldn't have found a better way to justify his hefty price tag as United beat Liverpool in a one-sided encounter at the Theatre of Dreams.
United dominated the game with 55.7% possession while Liverpool enjoyed sitting back and letting the hosts take their chances. It was only in the 49th minute that the supporters got to see the ball hit the back of the net when Dutchman Daley Blind put United in the front from a Juan Mata cross.
Later in the game, Ander Herrera drilled the ball into the net after being fouled in the penalty box by Liverpool defender Joe Gomez. While the United fans started cheering harder, Christian Benteke brought them a little disappointment with an incredible effort against David De Gea.
Then, it was Anthony Martial who rose to the occasion with a mazy dribble in the Liverpool defence and put the ball into the bottom right corner as United sealed a satisfying 3-1 victory over the Merseysiders.
