This game at Old Trafford was very special for Tottenham. Going into the match, newly appointed manager Andres Vilas-Boas led his Spurs side into the game having won the previous two games on the bounce.

Manchester United, who had lost the title in the last minute of the season the previous year, began the match having just beaten Liverpool at Anfield in the previous game and were on a four-game winning streak.

Jonny Evans gave United scored an own goal in the 2nd minuted to give United a terrible start. Gareth Bale then made matters worse when he scored past De Gea in the 32nd minute after a darting run. The hosts responded early in the second half and managed to reduce the deficit in the 51st minute through Nani.

Though Manchester United had the momentum, Clint Dempsey managed to find the third for Spurs as he was unmarked and scored from a Gareth Bale shot that had been deflected. Shinji Kagawa managed to score in the 53rd minute, slotting into the bottom corner.

With more than 30 minutes left, many presumed United would complete the comeback, but Spurs held on for the rest of the game to record their first ever win at Old Trafford against Manchester United in the Premier League era making this win extra special.
