5 Most successful English clubs of all-time

Sunderland v West Bromwich Albion - Premier League

#4 Everton

Everton v Watford - Premier League
Everton

Founded in 1878, Everton never saw success until early 1891, when they won their first domestic league competition. After winning their first league title, Everton's rapid growth stalled and slowed until early 1900s when it saw a repeat of their early success.

In the years that followed 1915, Everton won eight additional domestic league titles, winning their last one in 1987. In 1985, Everton tasted their first European glory when they won the European Cup Winners Cup after winning the domestic league in England.

During the time of their dominance in the domestic league, Everton also saw a repeat of their successes in the FA Cup, winning their first FA Cup in 1906 and the remaining four in 1933, 1966, 1984, and 1985 respectively. Everton replicated their successes in the FA Community Shield where they won nine trophies between 1928 and 1995.

Though they barely see the same successes as they previously did in the past, Everton's strong league performances in the league and the FA Cup have etched their name in the annals of English football.

Their position on the all-time league table is third with 6593 points.
