Every year, there are always comical moments. In 2017, we listed some, and now again as we welcome the new year, we're giving the chance for all football fans to experience some laughter as we reflect on 2018.
2019 may have already arrived, but we're not ready to leave just yet, as departing before providing you with some classic, unique and hilarious moments that occurred last year would be criminal.
From throw-in muck-ups, to a goalkeeping error in Ethiopia that one can only imagine, this list is diverse in errors and reactions, and shows football as a whole with fans, players as well as ball boys receiving unwanted attention.
The trio above isn't featured, but after reading this list and watching the videos linked, we reckon you'll be reacting in the same manner as they were in the photo. With that being said, here's the 5 funniest moments in football 2018.
#5 Skilled acrobat... perhaps not the best throw-in taker
Tumbling and fumbling. Some people are great gymnasts, or perhaps even acrobatic in general. This audacious attempt on the world's biggest stage successfully put Milad Mohammadi on the map, but for all the wrong reasons. Instead of being remembered for having a great World Cup, like none before him, he'll always be remembered as the person who failed a throw-in on the stage where it most matters.
He did it against Spain, so some lucky, world-class players got to witness it first-hand, and unfortunately for the thrower, that drew some attention. This video made the rounds on social media in June, so you might have already seen it, but even so, take a look at the video!
#4 Reaction to meeting Lionel Messi
We said that this list was inclusive of everyone, and that certainly includes ground staff as well, who enter this list at a modest 4th spot.
Messi shook a ball boy's hand who then reacted in a hilarious way which is certain to make one laugh. It was as if he was trying his best to savour the moments when he was blessed with the Argentine's footballing knowledge, but then came to the realisation that he was going to transfer it to the ball when during the match he did his job.
To be fair to the ball boy, if we met Messi, we'd probably react in a similar way, just not staring at our own hand.
The extent of your giggles on this occasion wasn't likely much, but after the next miss, we're sure you're going to burst out laughing, as it's got the classic Fifa (video game) sweat, just in this case, with a miss.

Every list involving 'Funniest moments in football,' has to have a worst miss. Because of the quality of the player, the miss itself as well as the fact that it had 'Fifa sweat,' involved Konoplyanka finds himself on this list. Sure there was an arriving defender towards the end, but with that much space and time to shoot, we're not accepting any excuses from the man.
We don't know what he was thinking, but one thing's for sure, it's definitely up there for worst misses ever. What was he doing?
#2 Zinchenko knocks down the Premier League trophy during celebrations
There's nothing funny about celebrating, except when it's too early. But, in this case, something rather unique, and quite hilarious occurred. Zinchenko, the promising Manchester City youngster, made it into headlines for other reasons that his talent; for a different way of marking the Sky Blues's title win.
There was the pouring of champagne, celebrating with fans, jumping up and down in happiness, but there was also so much more. As they were celebrating with confetti, something not so usual occurred. I think it's best described as Zinchenko's biggest 'Oops!' moment in his career.
We're sure that increased his adrenaline, if there was ever a need to. What an unusual hiccup to have in a moment which is (normally) supposed to bring joy.

#1 Drama in Ethiopia - an intentional own goal, we don't think so...
The winner for the funniest moment in 2018 is awarded to a player we aren't able to find the name of, but he features for Welwalo Adigrat as a goalkeeper. As viewers of this error, we are forever in the debt of this man, who did the impossible through his humorous mistake.
If this was intentional it would be believable, but this isn't just a one-pronged attack, it's a double-edged sword. Not only does he throw the ball into his own net unintentionally, but also proceeds to walk towards his goal pretending that nothing happened.
Hands down the best goalkeeping blunder from this year, perhaps even bettering 2017's funniest goalkeeping blunder.
We all make mistakes, but this one was something special.
