Darren Bent's shot which deflected off a beach ball and hit the back of the net against Liverpool was one of the most bizarre moments in the history of Premier League. It shocked everyone who was present in the stadium and the referee considered it a legitimate goal even though it should not have counted.
Mike Jones was the referee in that match and Sunderland went on to win the match 1-0. Former Premier League referee Jeff Winter said, "I'm absolutely amazed. It is basic law in football. The goal should just not have stood. The laws of the game state that if there's an outside interference the game has to be stopped."
