The 25-year old Portuguese midfielder was an interesting prospecting at Benfica where he won the domestic treble in the 2013-14 season. He joined Valencia on loan in the 2014-15 season which saw the move become permanent the following season.
And it was the very next year that he grabbed interest from some of the top clubs in the world for his signature. But it was eventually at Barcelona that he ended up. Since then, Gomes has managed to make 46 appearances for the Catalan club but it has not gone as planned. Gomes has struggled to impress the critics and it is safe to say that he hasn’t looked the player he was at Valencia.
With Barcelona signing two midfielders this summer, it is very obvious that Gomes will struggle to start and it is best for his career that he moves away and plays somewhere where he can get regular game time. It was rumoured that Gomes was offered to Arsenal but till date, no offer has been submitted for him.
