5 players who could join Liverpool this summer

Naby is playing his last season for RB Leipzig

Naby Keita will be the first player to join Liverpool this summer after it was announced in August 2017 that a deal between Liverpool and RB Leipzig had been agreed. He could be the first of many to come because Liverpool's manager Jurgen Klopp wants to boost his sqaud in order to fight for the English Premier League title next season.

Most importantly, Liverpool is prioritizing the signing of a new keeper. In the mind of Klopp, he believes that getting a goalkeeper is essential for a team which has conceded an astonishing number of goals. The Reds' attacking threat will remain prevalent as Mohamed Salah looks determined to stay with the Premier League club. After getting Virgil van Dijk in January, Liverpool will now refocus their attention to the midfield.

Here are five players who may be joining Liverpool come this summer.

#5 Alisson Becker (Roma)

The Roma keeper, who has performed well all season, and is being eyed by Jurgen Klopp. Alisson is gradually establishing himself to be one of the best shot-stoppers in the world at Roma. Meanwhile, the Reds have conceded 35 goals as of 6 April 2018, the most among the leading three clubs in Premier League standings.

That statistic is the reason why Klopp is so eager to recruit a goalkeeper in his team. The German coach seemed to have lost trust in Simon Mignolet, who could be on his way out in the summer so that Liverpool can welcome a new goalie. Alisson has been linked to the Merseyside club for a period of time and could be switching clubs this summer.

The Brazilian makes an average of 3.83 saves per goal, amounting to three times more than Simon Mignolet. This excellent record has shown that he is a reliable keeper at the back who is alert at all times, this is someone Liverpool needs.

#4 Jean Seri (Nice)

Months ago, Barcelona was close to signing Jean Seri from Nice. However, his dreams failed to come true after a deal couldn't be reached by both clubs. Liverpool remain interested in the Ivory Coast midfielder.

Seri is known to be versatile in the midfield and has a superb ability to read the game. Klopp has identified him as a replacement for Emre Can, who is highly likely to move out of Anfield in the summer.

Other Premier League clubs are also said to be keen on Seri. Klopp is in desperate need of a reliable midfielder due to the departure of Philippe Coutinho in January.

#3 Thomas Lemar (Monaco)

Reports in France had claimed that Lemar has rejected the chance to sign a new contract with Monaco. The 22-year-old has been monitored closely by both Arsenal and Liverpool. The former submitted a last-minute bid in the summer but it was all too late for any dramatic transfer to happen.

Now Liverpool has seemingly gained the upper hand as the Reds edge closer to getting his signature in the summer. The French international is able to play both on the wings and in the centre.

At the same time, his style of play suits Liverpool. Klopp enjoys playing a fast-paced attacking team which makes accurate passes through the midfield.

Accurate ball distribution has been a vital component in Liverpool's game and Lemar is capable of doing so with his amazing dribbling and passing ability.

#2 Jorginho (Napoli)

SSC Napoli v Genoa CFC - Serie A
Jorginho has made 27 starts for Napoli this season

The Italian is known for his composure and versatility in the midfield. In Napoli, he has illustrated that he is capable of playing as a box-to-box midfielder. Since Coutinho's departure, the team has needed a player who can support the attack even from deep.

Most of the time, Jorginho is deployed as a deep-lying central midfielder who is able to dictate the play. This also gives him the freedom and luxury to control the pace of the game.

Despite having a creative touch in his game, Jorginho is by nature a defensive midfielder who makes an average of two successful tackles per game.

Given his all-rounded ability, it is no wonder that Liverpool has eyes on him and would be looking to sign him in the summer.

#1 Adrien Rabiot (PSG)

Paris Saint-Germain v Real Madrid - UEFA Champions League Round of 16: Second Leg
Adrien Rabiot has been linked to a Liverpool move since last year

The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) player reportedly declared his admiration for Liverpool on Instagram when the Anfield hosted the Champions League match involving the Reds and Manchester City.

The French midfielder admitted to the media that he supports Liverpool and the English team will be extremely keen to add a central midfield payer to their side in the summer to strengthen the midfield.

Players like James Milner and Jordan Henderson are getting older, and Klopp requires young players who can inject some energy and pace into the team.

PSG could be forced to sell some of their players in order to make big signings and Rabiot may be one of the players making way.
