Liverpool have been impressive to watch this season.

Liverpool FC is having one of their best seasons in recent years under the German boss, Jurgen Klopp. The Reds currently sit third in the Premier League points table only two points behind arch-rivals Manchester United.

The style of football under the German boss has been impeccable at especially at Anfield. Liverpool have scored 61 goals in the league alone and put up sensational attacking displays in front of the fans.

However, the defensive frailties of the Reds have let them down. They have dropped countless points from winning positions courtesy of their unassured defence. Klopp had splashed a record fee over Van Dijk in January to bolster his team's back-line but the move has not yet started to reap any dividends for the club.

Klopp is believed to be planning another big summer of spending to revamp his defence to mount up a serious title challenge for the 2018-19 season. While a few players' form is attracting interest from across Europe, a large number of departures are expected for the summer.

Having said that, let's take a look at the players who could possibly be leaving Anfield for all the various reasons.

#5 Dejan Lovren

Dejan Lovren was substituted midway through the first half at the Wembley , by Klopp.

Liverpool fans do not need a reference to their visit to Wembley where they were left humiliated by their agony in the defence.

Dejan Lovren was one of the prime culprits of Liverpool's shambles at the national stadium against Spurs. The Croatian was left devastated on the turf, pleading it to open up and swallow him so as to save him from the wrath of his manager.

Not only at Wembley, but against Everton at home, when Liverpool were looking certain to get past the merseyside rivals, the centre-back conceded a penalty. The team dropped two crucial points in a game which they should have deservedly won.

Klopp has often been left embarrassed by his defenders who fail to see through the game easily. Liverpool having splashed serious cash over Van Dijk would be looking to add more depth to their defense.

The Reds would also be looking to offload the players surplus to their requirements to balance the books. Therefore, Dejan Lovern's days at the club appear to be numbered.

#4 Jordan Henderson

Jordan Henderson took the armband from Gerrard in 2015.

The name of Liverpool skipper on the list would raise a lot of eyebrows, given the respect he commands at the club. Unfortunately, that has become the harsh reality of football nowadays. Today, the axe of standards pardons no one, be it Wayne Rooney for Manchester United or Iker Casillas for Real Madrid.

Since Steven Gerrard's departure, the Kop is yet to witness the true heir to their legendary number #8. In Henderson, the Reds have someone who is a perfect personification of a player filled with dedication yet lacking substance.

The English midfielder, with all due respect, does not has legs to guard the fragile back-four of the team. The holding midfield has therefore, been a concern for Jurgen Klopp lately. Liverpool need to find a figure like Nemanja Matic, Sergio Busquests or N' Golo Kante to provide stability in the engine room.

It should not come as a surprise if the Englishman is shown the exit door by Klopp in the upcoming summer.

#3 Adam Lallana

Adam Lallana has struggled with injuries for the club.

Another quality weapon in the Liverpool's creativity arsenal is Adam Lallana. The Englishman was signed by Brendan Rodgers from Southampton in 2014.

Since joining the Reds, the midfielder has been struck with injuries which have constantly kept him out of action. His lack of game time is evident from the fact that he is prone to injuries more than he is to training sessions.

Lallana has made sporadic appearances for the club this season. The current crop of attacking talent at the Anfield in form of Mane, Salah, Firminho and Chamberlain have reduced the former's opportunities substantially.

The Englishman could be looking for a move away from from Anfield in search of regular football. Moreover, if Naby Keita joins the Reds in summer, Lallana would see his chances of breaking into the first team cut even slimmer.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool would be able to keep hold of the player who has added much depth to their squad lately.

#2 Simon Mignolet

<p>
The Liverpool goalkeeper has left the fans disappointed with his performances.

This season, if Liverpool's attack has been a Ferrari, then their midfield has been a Ford and their defensive-four a totally scrapped car. Rightly then, their goalkeeping has been nothing more than a plastic toy car.

It would not be unfair to say that of all the goals conceded by Liverpool this season, their goalkeepers were directly accountable for at least half of them. Such has been the catastrophic display between the sticks that a recruitment there appears to be nothing but just a matter of time.

Time and time again, Simon Mignolet has disappointed the team with his performances. His nervousness coming off the lines, his distribution of the ball, his positioning have been utterly questionable.

Klopp is facing a similar problem to that of Pep Guardiola's, last year. Consequently, Pep went onto make Ederson the most expensive goalkeeper in football. Nothing different should come from the Reds this summer.

Liverpool would be desperate for the summer to arrive so that they can mend their goalkeeping woes and part ways with Mignolet.

#1 Mohamed Salah

Southampton v Liverpool - Premier League
Salah has lead the Liverpool attack this season.

Salah has been the find of the season for sure in Europe. The Egyptian winger is into his second spell in England and has set the league on fire since his arrival.

In his 36 appearances this season, the winger has scored 30 goals and provided 10 assists so far. He is currently the second highest top scorer in the Premier League with 22 goals and doesn't appear to be in a mood to stop any time soon.

Salah had joined Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer for then a club record fee. The 25-year-old has proved his metal in England by netting some sublime strikes against the top sides.

His pace and precision on the ball is something heavenly to watch. However, the winger's form may not be the best news for the Reds as Europe's elite are believed to have their eyes on the player.

If reports are to be believed, Real Madrid are preparing a bid for the player in the summer, as a part of their squad revamp. Any interest from Real would be hard for Klopp to fend off given their financial structure. Like Coutinho, Salah could be on his way to Spain if Liverpool receive a breath-taking sum of money for the Egypt international.
