5 players who could leave the Premier League

Liverpool v West Bromwich Albion - Premier League

The transfer market, is for all intents an purposes is like a medieval slave market. Here the highest bidder, more often than not gets the slave he wants. The only difference is, that in this case, the slaves, i.e the players have a bit of a choice when it comes to their new masters.

The Premier League has long been famous as the first stop for world class talent. But then slave trade is a two-way street. Generally, top notch talent does not find its way out of the Premier League, but this time around there are chances that quality going out would be more than quality coming in. So here are 5 players who I think are going to be leaving the Premier League this season.

1. Gareth Bale- The Welsh wizard is the hottest property in Great Britain right now. He has just had a very good season with Tottenham. He has pace, intelligence, a thundering left foot and most importantly that unquantifiable quality that some call the ‘X’ factor. He can have 89 minutes of poor football, but in the one minute that remains he can do things that eclipse everything else. Earlier a byline hugging left winger, Bale has developed into a number ‘10’ of some pedigree. His pace between the lines of defense and midfield is a huge asset. Real Madrid are hot in pursuit of him, and after Zidane’s invitation it just seems to be a matter of time. It is pretty hard to say no when one of the biggest legends in the history of game and the biggest club in the world come calling.

2. Wayne Rooney- He, reportedly, has handed in a transfer request, again. While the last time Rooney had been indispensible, this time he is mere surplus to requirements. Last time Ferguson had stopped him, this time Ferguson is gone. Rooney has a history of bad blood with David Moyes. Although, there are reports of a reconciliation, a proud Scot like Moyes and an arrogant Rooney don’t look the type, who would bury a hatchet. With reports that Lewandowski is being brought to Old Trafford, Rooney’s farewell seems a done deal. In all probability Rooney is going to be shipped out to PSG. PSG have reportedly asked Rooney to name his price, and once he does, he could be partnering Zlatan Ibrahimovic in attack and enjoying life in Paris.

3. Luis Suarez- He is a world class forward. He is quick, he has tricks, he has two equally good feet and can play in any attacking position. Also, he has been spearheading the last two seasons at Anfield. He is a fan favorite, and The Kop worships him. But then, he abuses people racially, and bites defenders trying to mark him. He has already said that a move to the Los Blancos is a dream, and knowing Real Madrid, they might just fulfill his dream. In any case, a talent like him deserves regular Champion League football and success.

4. Edin Dzeko- The Bosnian forward is unhappy at the Etihad, that much is confirmed news. Also Lewandowski has left Borussia Dortmund, and Borussia are reportedly in hot pursuit to grab him. He has been good as a substitute but his starts have been unimpressive to say the least. He made his name in Germany, and German football suits his style of play. Also we may find a straight swap taking place between the two clubs that finished runners-up in their respective leagues.

5. Thomas Vermalen- The Belgian was woeful last season. He seems to make the silliest of mistakes and with alarming regularity too. His strength is going forward, with and without the ball. His only strength as a defender are that he is a good header of the ball and is very quick. Now as luck would have it, Barcelona are in dire need of a ball-playing defender who is good in the air. I think the demand and the supply lines have met.

While the Premier League would be poorer with them going away. There is no reason that their replacements would not be better. Change, whether it be good or for the worst, is inevitable. The best we could do is sit back and watch.
