#3 Ainsley Maitland-Niles
Prior to the start of the season, I had little knowledge of this player. The hype of other youngsters such as Reiss Nelson and Jeff Reine-Adelaide was far greater than what was being reported about Maitland-Niles.
Turning 21 this year, time is on his side. He seems to have a gargantuan amount of energy stored in him and he has proven that he can be dangerous when going forward.
There were games where a lack of experience made him vulnerable to attack from opponents, but he illustrated time and again that, he can overcome all challenges that stand in his way.
Last season, he had far fewer opportunities. This season, he fought his way into the starting line-up and worked hard courageously. Maitland-Niles embodies a ''can-do'' attitude which has impressed many. He was brought into matches when a couple of things were not running smoothly for the team, but he has proven to be much more mature than expected.
