5 players who may not represent Spain at the FIFA World Cup

Spain v Argentina - International Friendly
Lopetegui took the reins in 2016

#4 Nacho Monreal

Spain v Korea Republic International Friendly
Monreal has eveolved into a reliable fullback

Monreal joined Arsenal in 2013 and has emerged as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. He has retained his position as a regular starter in the line-up over the last couple of seasons.

However, since making his international debut in 2009, he has appeared on just 21 occasions and has not played thus far this year. Monreal had a three-year absence between 2013 and 2016 from the national team, and was only called up due to the prevalence of injuries suffered by other first-team players.

The Arsenal man looks unlikely to be involved in the upcoming World Cup despite his consistent performances throughout the season. His crosses and attacking game has been far weaker than that of his compatriots, making him a less likely option ahead of the team selection.
