Nuno Espirito Santo will reinvest in his squad as he gears up for life in the Premier League

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side currently have an 11-point lead going into the final 16 games of the Championship campaign. Having lost just four games all season, they have been in fine form. Unless the rapidly decline over the next few months, they will be playing Premier League football next season.

Wolves have an advantage as Jorge Mendes the super agent, who looks after the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez has a good relationship with Fosun International, the club’s owners. This means they could have access to some of the exciting talent from around Europe.

Wolves have made Diego Jota’s move permanent, and will be keen to add defenders Wily Boly and Ruben Vinagre to the same list following successful loan-spells. Santo will look to also strike deals for midfielder Alfred N'Diaye and their prolific goalscorer Leo Bonatini who have both excelled for the Championship club.

But who else could they bring in?

#5 Alex Telles (FC Porto)

FC Porto v RB Leipzig - UEFA Champions League
Alex Telles could reunite with former manager Nuno Espirito Santo this summer

Liverpool and Chelsea have previously targeted Alex Telles, who is now on Wolves’ radar. He is one of the brightest young full backs in European football with plenty of pace and skills. Telles has an incredible 16 assists to his name for Porto so far this season and netted twice in 62 appearances since joining the Portuguese side. He has a €40 million buy-out clause, but this won’t put Wolves off. The fact he has previously worked with Santo at Porto, is a huge factor to why he could make the move.

#4 Gabriel Barbosa (Inter Milan, on-loan at Benfica)

Gabigol was one of the hottest players to emerge from Santos, featuring in the Copa America Centenario and helping his country to win a gold medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Currently on-loan at Benfica, he failed to live up to expectations in Serie A, starting just one league match following his €25 million move to Inter Milan. At 21, he could benefit from a move to the Premier League and still has a lot of room for improvement.

#3 Suso (AC Milan)

AC Milan v US Citta di Palermo - Serie A
A return to the Premier League on the cards?

The AC Milan player is no stranger to Premier League football, having spent five years with Liverpool. He has netted eight goals and contributing to nine assists for his team-mates this season. He could link up well with Ruben Neves in the Wolves midfield. Following his impressive time in Italy, it will take a hefty fee to prize him away from the San Siro. Suso would relish the opportunity to return to the Premier League and Wolves could be the perfect destination for the Spaniard.

#2 Andre Gomes (Barcelona)

Real Betis v Barcelona - La Liga
Andre Gomes will look for a route out of Spain

Tottenham have previously targeted a move for Andre Gomes and its possible that Wolves could make a bid for the Portuguese international. Ernesto Valverde is keen to offload the former Valencia player having made just 17 appearances since his arrival in 2016. Valued at £20 million, the move could be a great one for the player and club alike. The fact his agent is Jorge Mendes, then Wolves could have first option on him, should he want to make the move to Molineux.

#1 Andre Silva (AC Milan)

AC Milan v Austria Wien - UEFA Europa League
Wolves are keen to strike a deal for Andre Silva when the transfer window re-opens in the summer

Wolves had targeted a deal for striker Andre Silva last month, but a move failed to materialise. They will look to seal the 22-year-old’s signature in the summer and were willing to pay £34 million for his services in January. The striker could push for a move to England, and is another player to have worked with current Wolves head coach.
