The 3-0 thrashing of Bayern Munich at the hands of PSG turned out to be the final nail in the coffin for Carlo Ancelotti. Bayern's struggles domestically and rumours of Ancelotti having lost the dressing room didn't help his cause either and as a result someone had to face the wrath.

Unfortunately, Ancelotti had to be replaced with the coming-out-of-retirement Bavarian fan favourite, Jupp Heynckes. But, for a manager as accomplished as Carlo Ancelotti it would hardly be a tough task to find a new job. After all, who wouldn't want a manager who has managed big European clubs like Milan, Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea, PSG and most recently Bayern Munich. Having won three UEFA Champions League titles and a bunch of league titles in various countries, there are sure to be suitors for Carlo Ancelotti.

Here, we take a look at five possible destinations for Carlo Ancelotti.

#5 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund v FC Bayern Muenchen - Bundesliga
Is a return to Germany on the cards?

Borussia Dortmund are known for their squad full of talented youngsters and experienced veterans supported by a boisterous fan base, and yet, they somehow fail to convert this into trophies. The answer to this conundrum being the absence of an established manager. Dortmund have been lucky to witness the brilliance of the likes of Klopp and Tuchel, but, not being able to attract any big names and their continuous failure to hold onto their top talents has led to stagnation of kinds.

But, this could all change with the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti. His expertise in handling a top club and his ability to attract top players from across the world will undoubtedly help Dortmund. And with his experience in the Bundesliga, he will definitely help Dortmund mount a title challenge next season. With the kind of success he has tasted on the big stage in the UEFA Champions League, he will also give Dortmund the necessary push at the fag end of the tournament.

And a move to his former employers' great rivals will serve as an impetus to do well and will add to the excitement of Der Klassiker.

#4 Arsenal

Will he be managing the red side of London next season?

The list of world class managers in the world who haven't been linked to the Arsenal job is very short, and Ancelotti isn't one of them.

Arsenal have been on the lookout for a top class successor to Arsene Wenger's job and the requirements aren't too complicated. A tactically astute manager with a habit of winning titles, both, domestically and on the big European stage. Ancelotti quite comfortably fits the bill.

Arsene Wenger's two year contract might turn out to be a roadblock, but a return to the English shores will surely light up Ancelotti's eyes. And given the set of big name managers in the Premier League he'll be assured a warm welcome from the Premier League fans. His title winning experience with Chelsea a few years back will come in handy if Arsenal fans are looking to end their 13 year long wait for the league title anytime soon.

#3 Paris Saint Germain

Carlo Ancelotti Joins Paris Saint Germain FC - Press Conference
A similar face for PSG fans

Oh PSG! The club responsible for his sacking is a club he might end up joining next season at the expense of Unai Emery. PSG have spent lavishly in recent times without any European glory which has made the fans heavily question the quality of Ligue 1 and at times, the PSG board.

The reason Emery struggled in his first season was the heavily uninspiring signings he made in the form of Ben Arfa, Krychowiak, Jese Rodriguez, etc. The lone bright spot in an otherwise disappointing campaign was when they stunned the world with the 4-0 mauling of Barcelona at home. But, even that turned out to be short lived as a mixture of lack of experience, character and tactics turned out to be the factors responsible for the famous comeback. All this can be avoided with the return of Ancelotti at the helm of the club.

Reports suggesting Neymar's deteriorating relationship with Emery might be down to the latter not having managed a club with so many superstars before. It is in this facet, that the Italian has an edge over Emery. Having managed Milan and more notably the Galacticos of Real Madrid, that too with European success, it makes Ancelotti and the current crop of PSG superstars a mouth watering match up.

#2 Milan

An emotional homecoming

Having plied his trade here successfully as a player and later, as a manager, it would not be a problem for the fans to support the board's decision to appoint him as the next manager.

The Milan project looks exciting and on its way, but the only demerit being the results, which have consistently eluded the Rossoneri this term. The pressure's building on Montella and if the club decides to relieve him off his duties Carlo Ancelotti can be the right man to lead the Italian heavyweights back where they belong.

The 7-time UCL winners have been lost for the past few years and while Montella has done a decent job in stabilising the club's performances, he hardly looks like the man Milan could depend on, to take them to the top again. Ancelotti's previous successful tenure at the Italian club was memorable and successful, his return might just be the push needed by Milan right now.

#1 Italian national team

Sweden v Italy - FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifier Play-Off: First Leg
Back to the top?

Italy have been written off prior to a major tournament far too many times. But just when they looked the part under Antonio Conte after an impressive showing in last year's Euros, they've hit a new low.

A FIFA World Cup without the 2006 Champions is a difficult pill to swallow for any football fan, but on the bright side, the appointment of Ancelotti would be a step taken in the right direction. He knows the Italian team well and the pressure will be less as compared to the regular demands in club management, which will suit the recently sacked Italian.

His tactical approach in contrast to the helpless Ventura, in addition to his understanding of blending youth with experience will help Italy in the future with likes of Donnarumma, Rugani, Belotti having the support and backing of Ancelotti.
