With the expected departure of Emre Can to Juventus this summer, Liverpool will be hoping to bolster their midfield options this summer. The Reds had been linked to Napoli's Jorginho, however they look set to lose out on him with serious interest from Manchester City.
Liverpool look set to turn their interest to Sampdoria defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira. Torreira has a buyout clause of £21.8 million which is excellent value in today's market. With 4 goals, 36 key passes and an 88% pass success rate, Torreira is an accomplished midfielder at just 22 years of age.
Liverpool would not only get a highly promising player for decent money, but also a very dynamic midfielder that can play different roles.
Although only 5 foot 6, the Uruguayan posses excellent physicality as well as strong stats in tackling and intercepting balls.
Torreira is also adept on the ball and at playing balls from deep, this is the kind of dynamic player Liverpool will need to look towards should they lose Emre Can, and Torreira's ability to not just break up play, but to create from deep would make him a worthwhile replacement.
