Tradition alone doesn’t suffice, a move of this magnitude always arises from necessity. Indeed, everything in the world arises from the need for it—and Madrid need a goalscorer right now. Karim Benzema has been in atrocious form. The Frenchman has scored 5 goals from 20 games so far this season and didn’t really have a great campaign last season either.
While his mindblowing skill against Atletico Madrid might have helped Madrid get out of a potentially dangerous position last season, pulling off just one skill move in over 2 years isn’t really enough from a striker who plays for Real Madrid.
And then there is Cristiano Ronaldo’s decline in form, which is quite disconcerting. He is going to be 33 in February and there is no way that age won’t catch up with him somewhere down the line.
As a result, Madrid NEED someone who could do the bulk of the scoring for the club—and Harry Kane is one of the best players for the job.
