At the end of 2018 Ronaldo was once again picked for the World XI, by UEFA, for the 13th time (also a record), having been in the eleven almost every year since 2004.

Because of this, Ronaldo became the second player in history to achieve this feat at three different clubs, with the previous record being held, solely, by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Despite it technically being a joint record, it's a record nonetheless, and is one that seems nigh on impossible for Messi to equal or break.

The thought of Messi playing for two other teams in Europe seems virtually impossible, with the footballing legend having spent his entire club career at Barcelona.

There seems to be a bit of a running theme throughout these records, and it may be argued that some of these records are impossible for Messi to break, or even equal, because of his reluctance to leave Barcelona.

While that is most certainly a contributing factor, it doesn't diminish Ronaldo's achievements, as it shows that, unlike Messi, that Cristiano has been able to perform at the most elite level for multiple clubs, in different leagues, countries, and systems, which is an aspect of their rivalry which will always slant heavily in the Portuguese's favour.
