After scoring two goals against Granada and helping his team win 3-0, Cristiano Ronaldo, who didn’t celebrate any of his goals, revealed that he wasn’t happy at the club because of some professional reason and that the club was aware of it.

“I’m sad - when I don’t celebrate goals it’s because I’m not happy,” Ronaldo said. “It’s a professional thing. Real Madrid know why I’m not happy.”

This happened in September 2012. A year later, he signed a new contract with the club which saw him earn a million more per year than Lionel Messi at that time.

And right now, he is once again behind Lionel Messi in terms of wages, which is why his comments from last night make a lot more sense.
