Former Manchester United striker, James Wilson was one of the club's biggest prospects during the reign of Louis van Gaal.

Wilson had all the talent to become a successful Premier League striker, but despite having a promising start to life in Manchester, he suffered a massive dip in fortunes.

During his six years with Manchester United, James Wilson was sent out on loan to three clubs in the Championship and to Aberdeen in the Scottish Premier League.

Wilson struggled to make his mark at any of the teams he joined and was finally released by Manchester United in 2019. He is currently playing at League Two side Salford City.

#2 Saido Berahino

Saido Berahino was considered to be the next big thing in the Premier League during his time with West Brom.

He rose through the youth ranks at the club before making his debut in 2011. He spent the next three seasons on loan at various clubs in the Championship before becoming a regular starter for West Brom in the 2013-14 campaign.

Berahino was the club's top scorer in the 2014-15 campaign, scoring 14 goals in the Premier League. He was expected to make a move to one of the 'top six' teams but decided to stay at West Brom and continue his development.

However, Berahino struggled to replicate his form from the previous season, managed to score only four goals in his next 35 appearances for the club. He subsequently moved to Stoke City in 2016, where he netted just thrice in 50 appearances.

#1 Jack Wilshere

Jack Wilshere was, without a doubt, the golden boy of English football during the mid 2010s whilst he was at Arsenal. After making his debut for the club in 2008 as a 16-year-old, Wilshere rose to prominence during his loan spell with Bolton Wanderers in 2009-10.

The midfielder returned to Arsenal, where he became a key member of the Gunners midfield for the next few seasons. He won the 2010-11 PFA Young Player of the Year award for his impressive performances.

The Englishman's time at Arsenal was plagued with injuries, though, as he suffered a plethora of ankle-related issues. Wilshere managed to make just 125 Premier League appearances during his nine seasons at the club before he joined Bournemouth on loan for the 2016-17 campaign.

Jack Wilshere managed to revive his career there and earned a move to West Ham in 2017 but was never able to reach the heights expected of him. The 29-year-old currently plays for Bournemouth in the Championship.
