Brazil continues to show off the stadiums for next year’s World Cup.

That competition’s warm-up tournament the 2013 Confederations Cup gets underway on 15th June.

Only two stadiums have hit the deadlines and in many of the host cities, the areas surrounding the venues still look like construction sites.

Despite that, FIFA’s approved them all and said it was pleased with the facilities at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro where England and Brazil drew 2-all.

A court order initially cancelled last Sunday’s game stating the venue was unsafe, but that decision was overruled by another judge allowing the match to be played.

The Maracana will host the final of the Confederations Cup on 30 June.

Officially re-inaugurated on 27 April, it now has a seating capacity of just under 77,000, down from its once 200-thousand.

The National Stadium Mane Garrincha in the capital Brasilia will stage the opening match of the Conferderations Cup, Brazil versus Japan.

It can seat just over 70,000 spectators making it the second largest stadium, after the iconic Maracana.

Although its official name is Estadio Nacional, the stadium’s more commonly known as Mane Garrincha after the famed soccer player who won the 1958 and 1962 World Cups with the Brazilian team.

“You will not be so close to the players as you most of you are used to, but you will see the game in a much better way and it’s really the best position in stadium.”

FIFA’s marketing manager Thierry Weil explaining that the best seats in the house are not on the first row as many Brazilians are accustomed to in older stadiums:
