In 2007, he was part of the Colombia U17 team that finished runner-up in the South American Under-17 championships. Rodriguez was also part of the U-20 Colombia squad in the 2011 U-20 World Cup.

29th September 2011 – Rodriguez was called up for the first time to the Colombia’s Senior National Team for a match scheduled against Bolivia, to be played on the 11 October 2011.

In that game, Rodriguez had an outstanding performance and he was selected as the man of match, after the single-handed assist of the goal scored in the last minute which allowed a 1-2 win for Colombia.

General Comments:

James Rodriguez is a fantastic winger. I feel like I say this so many times about loving players and how amazing they are etc, so I apologise for the repetitiveness, but from what I’ve seen, Rodriguez is a dying breed.

He is the true definition of winger. He has bags of pace, trickery, and one hell of a shot. I’ve seen him play several games where he just offers a brand new dimension to the Porto side, and without him they just look weaker and in general, slower.

He has scored some truly stunning goals, but in all fairness to him, he had some fantastic assists, where he’s really curled the ball, or dropped it, or lofted it and he’s a strikers dream I’d say. A truly fantastic player. If we ever get the good fortune of Rodriguez in the Premier League, he’d get in to any side, including United and City, and would do nothing but improve the side.

He would, without doubt, cut it in the Premier League, and I really hope he does come over one day. However, I really doubt that he would any time soon, because for some reason Porto insist on demanding ridiculous fees for their players. Damn them, haha!

Thanks all,Ed022-}
