Moroccan midfielder Adel Taarabt has been fined by his club QPR for serious breaches of discipline. Taarabt has been hit with a series of fines adding up to more than £60,000. It is reported that player refused to have a routine weight check, and also turned up late for training on numerous occasions.

Earlier, manager Harry Redknapp criticized some of his players as being ‘overpaid’ and ‘over-rated’, resulting in QPR’s relegation from the Premier league. He said he would only continue as manager if he replaced them.

“If I can’t change it around during the summer and get some good lads in, I wouldn’t want to come back. There is a little group I need to get out and new blood in.” Redknapp said.

“I want to put a team together where I can look forward to coming into work. I don’t want people coming in late and me fining players every day. One player got fined more this month than he did in wages – and believe me he earns plenty of money,” he added.

Star players Julio Cesar, Park Ji-Sung, Loic Remy and many others are expected to leave the club this summer in order to cut costs and prepare for a gruelling season in the Championship.

Redknapp has declared that it will be difficult for Rangers to get right back into the Premier League.

“There are bigger clubs in the Championship. We have no divine right to come back. We finished bottom because we’re the worse team. We have been short of quality. It is not a good squad. It was one that wasn’t good enough.”
