Adios Bellamy, Borini’s Reaction, Joe Allen and Hearts

Liverpool parted with their star golfer for what is seemingly the last time in his playing career, after the club announced that an agreement had been made with Cardiff City.

If you aren’t aware already, the deal was in fact a free transfer, with the winger/striker signing a two year contract with the Bluebirds (or is it Red Dragons now?). He had a scorching season with the Reds last term despite having it littered with injuries throughout the course of the campaign. I Definitely wish him the best for the future, and most certainly hope that he can bring Cardiff City back into the Premier League by next season.

In other news, Joe Allen will come to Liverpool FC. It’s as simply as that. However, I’m really worried about the personal terms. Allen will get 2 million pounds by quite simply signing on with Liverpool FC. Plus, he gets wages of 45k a week on top of that. Assuming its a 3 year contract (and not saying it is), the Welshman will pocket 57k a week with the Reds (2 million divided by number of weeks in 3 years, plus the original 45k).

In terms of wages, I think that Liverpool have done well to perhaps keep the Welshman in check. At least there isn’t another 90k floating around the place, because that will call for another revolution if and when Brendan Rodgers gets sacked, and then the whole cycle begins again.

Allen is young, and talented. The fee might be a bit more that Liverpool have bargained for, but I reckon that Allen can show Liverpool fans why he is worth every penny over the course of the next season.

It felt like it was the first goal I had scored in my entire career. I tried to celebrate as I did for my first goal in Serie A.”

Fabio Borini, Liverpool FC striker

The man is an absolute monster. Works really hard for the team, and he might really be that missing cog that Liverpool have been missing last season, following Fernando Torres’ departure. Joined the ranks of fantastic Liverpool players such as Kenny Dalglish, Fernando Torres himself and Luis Suarez to have opened their Anfield account on their home debut. His goal was an absolutely fantastically taken volley against FC Gomel.

In other news, we have been drawn with Scottish side Hearts for the next round of the Europa League (please do note that we are still not in the competition proper yet).
