Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has hailed Adnan Januzaj as one the best youngsters he has seen during his time at Old Trafford.

With star men Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie both sidelined, the 18 year-old helped inspire The Red Devils in a 2-0 victory over Swansea on Saturday evening.

The win put an end to United’s run of three consecutive defeats, but the reigning Champions are still in a disappointing seventh place, five points off of the Champions League places. However, Fletcher, who has just returned to the fold following a lengthy lay-off was quick to heap praise on the Belgian born youngster and believes United have uncovered a real gem.

“For his age, he is up there with some of the best I have seen, without a shadow of a doubt. He is a great kid. There is no ego. He wants to learn and listens to advice he is being given.” he told The Metro.

With Fletcher having overseen the rise of players such as Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, who is in contention for this year’s Balon d’Or, there should be no doubt that the praise is of the highest order.

“He just wants to go out and express himself. Hopefully, we have given him a platform to do that. The fans have taken to him straight away and he is making an impact. Hopefully, he is here for a long time,” The Scot declared.

Januzaj, who scored twice against Sunderland on his full debut with a pair of accomplished finishes, is playing with a wise head beyond his novice years, with his contribution set to be vital if United are to turn their season around in the second half of the campaign.
