The Asian Football Confederation president Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa has congratulated the Uzbekistan Under-20 team and all the stakeholders of Uzbek football for their qualification to the quarterfinals of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey. Uzbekistan got the better of Greece 3-1 in the Round of 16 (pre-quarterfinals) encounter and will now face France at the last eight stage (quarterfinals) on July 6.
Sheikh Salman said that the entire Asian football family is elated at the achievements of the young Uzbeks!
“This is a moment of pride not only for Uzbekistan but for the entire Asian football family. I would like to congratulate you and all the followers of Uzbekistan football for this fantastic success,” he said.
“The Uzbeks have been a dominant force in age-group competitions in the recent past and their maiden title at the AFC Under-16 Championship in Iran last year is a proof of their growing stature.”
